THE sports movement will always be grateful for partners such as the Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) for the massive role they play in the local sports scene. The darts fraternity can indeed heave a sigh of relief, as their main sponsor, the ESRIC has pledged to continue supporting the association even this year. We are truly grateful for companies like ESRIC, who have consistently supported local sports.
ESRIC General Manager Zama Ngcobo assured that the company would rally behind the darts association even this year. Ngcobo was speaking during the ESRIC Darts League prize and presentation ceremony held at the Sibanesam Hotel on Tuesday. In his key note address, Ngcobo also assured that the company would also strive to at least match the same package of E150 000. He expressed joy at the apparent growth of the sport, noting that local players were slowly but surely leaving their mark in the UK International scene.
ESRC Business Development manager, Zama Tsabedze, who represented the CEO, Dr. Darius Dlomo, hailed the darts association for maintaining a healthy relationship with the sponsor and urged them to continue doing so. Tsabedze said there was no doubt that darts was one of the fastest growing sports in the kingdom, as evidenced by their impact during last year’s National Sports Awards. The darts players were nominated in almost all categories.
We are always behind national sports associations
THE Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council has forked out a whopping E120 000 towards the Eswatini Cue Sports Association. Cue Sports will be competing in the AAPA Pool Championships 2026 slated for Durban, South Africa. The ESRC fully supports such initiatives. We are hopeful that the team will bring home medals from the championships.
Clear
We have made it clear that it is podium finishes we want to see. The time of participating in such competitions just to make up the numbers is now long gone. We demand our representatives to stand up and be counted. They should compete and do so effectively against some of the finest in the region.
TINKHUNDLA SPORTS GROUNDS GET FACELIFT
MINISTER of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima has officially commissioned the tinkhundla sports grounds upgrade to start. Nzima launched the start of the eagerly anticipated project at the Matsanjeni South Inkhundla on Monday.
This is obviously good and exciting news for our people in the tinkhundla centres, as mostly the youth will benefit. The upgrade comes with a permanent athletics track to benefit football players and athletes who are focused on athletics. It is safe to say that the country’s Tinkhundla Centres sports grounds will never be the same again. Also present during the function were ESRC CEO Dr. Darius Dlomo, Director of Sports Lucky Sihlongonyane and other high ranking government officials.
Until next week, shu...shu...Shukuma Eswatini!
Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima.
