Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral Plan

Wonkhe Wonkhe is an all inclusive Funeral Plan that covers Emaswati of all ages and pays out a lump sum to the policy holder or their dependats to cover the costs of a funeral. True to its name, Wonkhe Wonkhe covers up to eight (8) close family members and a maximun of ten (10) family members under one policy.
Funeral Policies under Wonkhe Wonkhe can be opened by the individual who wants cover for themselves and their policy or on behalf of a family member or relative.

Wonkhe Wonkhe funeral Plan has three (3) basic cover levels to choose from. These are The Family Plan,The Individual Member Plan and The Senior Citizens Plan.

The Family Plan

The Family plan covers the policyholder, their spouse and up to 6 children below the age of 21 or below 24 years if they are in tertiary. To qualify under this plan, the applicant must be 64 years and below and must have at least one beneficiary who is either their spouse or child.

The Family Plan Packages

The Family Plan has a number of funeral cover packages to choose from starting from E5,000 to E50,000 for each member of the family, depending on their age. The package you choose is determined by how much you can afford to pay on a monthly basis and how much you wish to claim to be able token_get_all cover the cost of the funeral.

The Waiting Period

The waiting period under the Family plan is three(3) months, which is waived if death is as a result of an accident.This means that you are not elidgible to claim from your funeral policy within the first three(3) unless the death was caused by incidents involving equipment or machinery motor vehicle accidents, falls,drowning or snake bite.

Add up to 10 extended family members

The Family Plan under Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral enables the policyholder to add up to ten (10) extended family members under their policy. These could be brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces or domestic workers who are 64 years and below. These can be added at an additional premium based on the cover package chosen from E5,000 up to E20,000 per person.

Add Parent Parents and Parents-In-Law

Policyholders under the Family Plan are also able to add their Parents and Parent-In-Laws under their policy. The parents and the in-laws must also be 64 years and below and can be added for cover packages from E5,000 to E20,000 per person.

    Unlike the Family Plan, the Individual Member Plan covers the policyholder only. It is designed for individuals who do not have dependants such as a spouse or a child. To qualify for the Individual Member Plan the applicant must be 64 years and below and must not have a dependant. Cover packages for this plan also begin from E5,000 up to E50,000.

    The Senior Citizens Plan

    The Senior Citizens Plan is designed for individuals and couples who are above 64 years old who also require a funeral cover. Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral Plan does not discriminate applicants based on their age and is open to Emaswati up to the ripe age of 120 years. The policy can be opened by the Senior Citizen themselves or by any of their relatives who may have an insurance interest in the Senior Citizen’s life. Cover packages are from E5,000 up to E20,000 for both the individual and the couple. The waiting period under the Senior Citizens Plan is 6 months unless the cause of death was an accident.

  • Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral Plan Additional Benefits

    In addition to the funeral cover packages, the Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral Plan allows policyholders to add a range of optional benefits to their policies to assist with the costs of paying for a funeral.

    1. The Utilities Benefit is for Groceries, Electricity and Airtime valued at E1,500 and is open to all the funeral cover plans and packages for an additional E5.70 per months.
    2. The Tombstone Benefit is for cover options of E10,000 and above and is available for the three cover levels of Family Plan, Individual Member Plan and Senior Citizens Plan. The premium for the Tombstone Benefit is calculated at either 30% or 50% of the cover level chosen.
    3. The Family Support Benefit is available for the Family Plan only for just E25.00 per month. It pays out E12,000 to the dependants of the policyholder as financial assistance as they cope with the passing of the policyholder who is often is the main provider of income for the family.

    Payment Options

    Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral Plan policy premiums can be paid yearly or monthly depending on the premium payer. It is important to ensure that your Wonkhe Wonkhe Funeral cover payments are always up to date for the policy to assist you when the time comes. Below are some of the payment options available to keep your payments updated:

    1. Bank Debit Order (available for the 3rd, 20th, 25 and 30th of each month)
    2. Bank EFT (bank account details available on request)
    3. ESRIC Offices in Mbabane, Manzini or Nhlangano
    4. MTN Mobile Money (Dial *007*3*4#, then choose Wonkhe Wonkhe Policy)
    5. Eswatini Mobile E-mali (Dial *232*6*5*4#)
    6. At any Post Office Branch in the Kingdom

    Claims Stage

    It is important to keep your policy premium payments updated to be able to claim without any challenges from your policy. To ensure timely payment of your claim, we will require the following documents:

    1. The Death Certificate
    2. The Original or Certified copies not older than three (3) of the member ID and the ID of the Deceased.
    3. A letter from the Mortuary where the body is/ was kept.
    4. Marriage Certificate (if spouse) or Birth Certificate (if child).
    5. Medical Certificate of the Deceased from Health Facility or Umphakatsi Letter stating place and cause of death if not certified in a health facility.
    6. One-month bank statement or Mobile Money Statement or a valid Cellphone number.
    7. Burial Permit or Confirmation Letter from Umphakatsi (if already buried).
    8. Confirmation Letter from Academic Institution (if Student).
    9. Health Facility Letter (if child is disabled).
    10. Parent's ID and Antenatal Care Card (if Stillborn)
